Fall Fundraiser Information
Fall Fundraiser Information from PTO President Mrs. Jessica Wilkins:
Hello Pirates!
I hope all of you are having a great week! I have some exciting news to share...our Fall Fundraiser packets will be coming home to you on Monday/Wednesday next week! We will be participating in a Scratch & Give. Simply, this means that you will have a friend/relative to choose 2 spaces to scratch off and donate their total. On average this amount is around $3. You will then give them one of the coupon sheets attached to your book. The PTO was able to get several local businesses to add a coupon to the sheets!
All K-8 students will receive a fundraiser packet. As you complete your book please turn your packet with money back into your teacher. If there are High School students that would like to participate in the fundraiser please let me know and we will make sure you receive a book.
All money from the fundraiser will be due on 10/7/19 & 10/9/19.
We are so excited about this HUGE opportunity to raise funds to feed right back into our Powerful Pirates!
As always, any questions or suggestions for the PTO please reach out to any of the board members!
Happy Sailing!

Message from the MS Teachers:
MS Parents & Learning Coaches:
Below are the checklists for this week and they have also been posted on Google Classroom for students.
We are starting to dig into Edgenuity this week. There are some items on this week's checklist that might say Northern or Southern Only. Please don't work ahead on these activities because there are things we would like to go over with the students in class before they start digging into Edgenuity by themselves at home. We are also learning more and more about Edgenuity as we use it so if activities are taking longer than anticipated or your student is having a hard time with something, please reach out to us and let us know.
If you were unable to attend curriculum night, we will be sending out the PowerPoint and other information later this week! Edgenuity has a Family Portal that families and learning coaches can access, but must be given an activation code from a teacher to be able to enable it. If you would like to activate the Family Portal or edit emails that are linked with your student's account, please reach out to the appropriate teacher.
6th Grade - Mr. Spradlin (spradlinm@gcs.k12.nc.us)
7th Grade - Mrs. Allison (allisonk@gcs.k12.nc.us)

SCIENCE OLYMPIAD will have its first interest meetings next week! There will be a meeting at each campus! These meetings will be for K-8! If your student is interested in participating, they need to attend one of these meetings. Students will be given information about Science Olympiad to bring home to you and also tell Mrs. Young which events they may be interested in. There have been several event changes from last year so feel free to access the NC Science Olympiad website for further details.
