Red Ribbon Week Significance

Since its beginning in 1985, the Red Ribbon has touched the lives of millions of people around the world. In response to the murder of DEA Agent Enrique Camarena, angered parents and youth in communities across the country began wearing Red Ribbons as a symbol of their commitment to raise awareness of the killing and destruction cause by drugs in America. In 1988, NFP sponsored the first National Red Ribbon Celebration. Today, the Red Ribbon serves as a catalyst to mobilize communities to educate youth and encourage participation in drug prevention activities.

10TH GRADERS: PSAT-NMSQT on Wednesday 10/24

All sophomores (and any registered freshmen or juniors) will participate in the PSAT-NMSQT on Wednesday, 10/24. This is an extremely important exam for our students as it provides many opportunities to earn scholarships and it serves as a concordant score for the Algebra 1 EOC. (Any student scoring 430 or higher in the mathematics section will satisfy the Algebra 1 EOC graduation assessment requirement.) Parents, help your student out by ensuring they are well rested Tuesday night, eat a good breakfast Wednesday morning, and arrive early to school.

All students should bring a scientific or graphing calculator for use on the exam. CCMHS will not be providing calculators to students.

College and Career News

The ASVAB will be held at CCMHS on Thursday, November 8. The ASVAB is required for students pursuing a career in the US Military. It is also a helpful career aptitude assessment and exploration program that is available for any interested student, regardless of interest in the armed forces. Contact Mrs. Larimore to sign up.
