Marysville Message

Dear Marysville Families

Happy first day of October!

October feels like a milestone with the school year well underway. We are looking forward to some traditional school year events this month.

SUN Classes Begin!

Just a reminder: If you registered your student for after school SUN classes, they start the week of October 4th. SUN only takes place on school days. Any questions, please contact Audrey Rozell at 503-544-3380 (text preferred).

The Marysville Fun Run will take place on Friday October 15th.

  • Pledge forms are due the day before on Thursday October 14th

School Picture Day will be on Tuesday October 19th.

  • More information will be coming home next week, but pictures will be ordered online.
  • Students will have their picture taken one at a time in the Marysville Studio
  • If you do not wish your child to take off their mask for the picture, please state no on this google form

Fall Harvest Celebration

Since we are not doing any offsite field-trips at this time, we are planning on bringing the pumpkin patch to school. We will be having a Fall Harvest celebration for Marysville students during the school day on Friday October 29th.

  • Costumes may be worn, no full head masks or costume accessories at school please!
  • If anyone has a Pumpkin Patch connection, please let me know. We are looking for a lot of pumpkins!

Please continue to return the OHSU COVID Screening Test authorization Forms if you would like to opt in to the program. We have sent the first batch of forms to OHSU and are awaiting our test kits. There seems to be a bit of a supply delay and as soon as we have them we will contact the families enrolled in the program.

Once we have the test kits, they will be sent home on a Wednesday afternoon for a Thursday OHSU pickup.

Please contact me if you have any questions about the program.

Celebrating Latine/x Heritage Month

Thank you to our families and staff who have shared family photos and special items representing their Latine/x culture. It’s not too late if you want to send a photo to Audrey Rozell either by email or text 503-544-3380.

Volunteering with PPS: New COVID-19 Vaccination Rules

Dear PPS Families,

Thank you to all the parents and community members that volunteer their time to support PPS schools and students! During the 2021-22 school year, the district is allowing essential volunteers, at the discretion of the school principal.

Per Oregon’s COVID-19 Vaccination Requirement for Teachers and School Staff, all volunteers are required to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination before volunteering in person at a PPS school or facility in person. In order to reduce the risk of exposure to COVID-19, volunteers must also follow PPS COVID-19 safety protocols.

On September 22, we sent an email survey to over 19,000 existing volunteers in our database asking them to complete the survey by October 15. We will use those survey responses to update volunteer records, and we will be expiring volunteers that do not respond to the survey. Expired and new potential volunteers should apply at

Thank you for your support!

The Southeast Guiding Coalition resumed meeting last week, reviewing current enrollment data weighing in on community engagement plans, and discussing hopes and fears for this process.

Numerous BIPOC listening and learning sessions will be held this month. All BIPOC and marginalized community members are invited to attend, with a focus on Harrison Park and Lane families. Feel free to share this flier and consider attending any sessions that are appropriate for your family

Other upcoming SEGC events:

October 21: First draft scenarios for enrollment and program balancing

October 23: SEGC workshop to review and refine draft scenarios

November 5: SEGC selects scenarios for community input

November 8-15: Scenario open house and other community input opportunities

Additional scenario development and community input will happen through mid-December. The SEGC will complete their recommendation by early January, and the School Board will make the final decision by early February. I will keep you informed about impacts for our school community, and provide details about how to give input as more information is released. Updates are also posted at
