Learning Through the Arts Best Prepares Students for Life

November Update

LSE Families,

We have reached the end of our second week of in-person school and your students are doing wonderful! I am so proud of everyone! Students are working so hard to keep their masks on and stay distanced from others. Teachers are cleaning overtime and love having your students back in seat! Parents thank you for monitoring your child's symptoms and for being so understanding if we need to send them home. These two weeks have been hard work, but we are working together and so far it is going GREAT!

Please remember to send your student with their iPad EVERYDAY and charged!!!! Students will use their iPads during art, music, and media classes. Students will also still be working from Schoology and SeeSaw while in class. The reason for this is; we will continue to stay prepared just incase a classroom or student would need to quarantine. Lessons are still being pushed out through our learning platforms for IF we need to go virtual again.

Typically your child's grade card would consist of a plus, check, or minus and E, S, N. This year after gathering feedback from curriculum coordinators, teachers, and administrators, the district removed individual content areas from the progress report, and instead will be reporting comments only. Report card comments will be completed for reading, mathematics, and personal development. Your child's report card comments will address what he/she is able to do and the teacher will provide what next steps are needed for continued appropriate growth. Below you will find a link to sign up for Parent/Teacher Conferences.

With Gratitude,

Mrs. Coggins

Parent/Teacher Conferences

This is one of our teacher's favorite times of year...they get to brag about all of the progress your kiddo has been making! Now, this year is going to look different. All conferences will be via Zoom. At Locust Street we schedule conferences via Sign Up Genius. Please click the link below, find your student's classroom teacher's link, and sign up for a time that works best for you! We strive to have 100% participation, talking with you about your kiddo is very important to us!

Online Book Fair

We will be hosting our Fall Book Fair online this year. The Book Fair will run November 2nd – 13th. All books/items will ship to school and we will distribute them. This means NO shipping costs to families.

We will host a pick up night for our CPS@Mizzou families to pick up their purchases. In-Seat families could also choose to pick up. This would be a great option if you are purchasing holiday gifts for your student.

All Book Fair information can be found here:

Fall Festival: "Rad to the Biome" - Nov. 20th

We are excited to announce we will proceed with our traditional Fall Festival this year. We have moved back the date to Friday, November 20th to make sure we had time for planning. This year with safety protocols in place Fall Festival will happen via Zoom or be prerecorded.

For families that are new to Locust Street, traditionally we celebrate our curriculum/learning with a Fall Festival at the end of October each year. Grade levels pick a theme that matches our overall school theme and students are encouraged to design and create their own costume to match that theme. We then spend the day learning from our Partners in Education!

Please be on the look out for a flyer with more details about our upcoming Fall Festival!

CPS Issued Hotspot Fix

If you have a CPS-issued iPad and use a CPS-issued T-Mobile Hotspot (Alcatel or Franklin brands), please install the following app from Self Service to ensure your iPad continues to connect to the internet through your hotspot.

  • T-Mobile iBossConnect App

The app should install quickly, but if you were experiencing issues connecting to the internet before this app install it may take 30 minutes or more for the overall installation process to complete.

Note: After installing the T-Mobile iBossConnect app, you will be unable to uninstall apps on the iPad. However, your iPad should connect to the internet, without any issues, through your T-Mobile hotspot.

If you experience any issues after installing the app, or the app won’t install, please contact the Student Help Desk at 573-214-3334.

Thank you,

Bus Information from STA

Busing information should be coming very soon. Typically you can find your student's bus number and route through the CPS portal.

STA only routed those students who stated they needed the bus from the summer survey.

If you do not think you are routed on a bus, please call or email Ms. Erica in the main office and she will help you. It can take up to 2 weeks to get your student routed on a bus. (573-214-3530 or

We have made a few changes to bus riding expectations in order to maximize safety of our students when they do return to in-person learning. Please find those expectations listed here:

  • All students and drivers are expected to wear a mask while on the bus.
  • 1-2 students per seat {siblings may sit together in the same seat}
  • The front row will remain vacant. These seats will be used for the drivers child and/or students who need to be moved because of possible sickness symptoms and/or the need to move a student due to behavior issues.
  • All students will have assigned seats. This is necessary for the County Health Dept to conduct tracking if necessary.
