The Ecosystem before the eruption
Before the eruption of Mount Saint Helen's there was two months of intense earthquakes activity.Before the eruption, the dense forest cover meant there was little light and low speeds in the area.

During the eruption, a 300-mile-an-hour lateral blast of hot air flattened the surrounding old growth forest.The eruption triggered the largest debris avalanche recorded in history. the eruption was 20,000 times more powerful than the atomic bomb droped on Hiroshima

after the eruption of Mount Saint Helens every thing was flat. trees were flat there was no animals. 11 billion feet of timber was all wasted. pretty much everything in the path of the blast was demolished and gone. 7,000 animals died including deer,elk,fish,and birds. also 57 people died in the blast too. the reason why they died was because of the ashes
