Maltby Memo
April 24th Special Edition
~A message from our Principal~
Dear Maltby Families,
Trees are budding and the flowers are blooming. The sun is out and sometimes the April showers water our garden. Spring is definitely upon us! As we move into this last week of April, we hope you are well and happy. Some of us are getting used to our new way of life and some of us dream of the days to come. One thing for sure is we all miss our students! It has been fun watching teachers and students as items are picked up! Lots of smiles and true joy!
Good news coming to you from Maltby. We have been recognized by Washington State Recognition Program, (formerly the Washington Achievement Awards,) for growth in our service of students who identify as Hispanic. This award is given for closing the gap, showing growth and excellence. Congratulations Maltby team!!!! Our school will be recognized during the week of April 27-May 1st in Olympia.
This upcoming week, personal items from the classroom will be available by grade during lunch service from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Please see the schedule below:
Monday, April 27 - Kindergarten
Tuesday, April 28 - First Grade
Wednesday, April 29 - Second Grade
Thursday, April 30 - Third Grade
Friday, May 1 - Fourth/Fifth Grade
We are working on a way to exchange library books. Please hang tight, as we navigate this. As soon as we have direction, I will let you know. For now, what you can do is email Tracy Spahman, our Librarian, and request specific books you would like. She will then arrange with you to pick them up during lunchtime, between 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. We hope to have further direction moving forward. Her email is: spahmant@monroe.wednet.edu
Our staff has been working on learning a new online management system. Some of us are using Google Classroom while others are using Canvas. Whichever system is used, we are excited to see the learning of each of our students. Many of our students have experienced zoom meetings as well. This can be a great way to connect with other students and our teachers. If you are having difficulty accessing online resources or logging in, our office is open daily from 9 AM-1 PM every day.
Beginning on Monday, we have some exciting events taking place! Our Digital Learning Teacher will be collecting pictures of our Maltby Spirit! On Monday, April 27th - take a picture with a pet, or stuffed animal; Tuesday, April 28th -show us your favorite book; Wednesday, April 29th - draw us a picture; Thursday, April 30th -draw or take a picture of a favorite flower; May 1st -write a note or letter, or draw a picture and send it, through the mail. You can also drop it off during lunchtime to someone at Maltby. We will make sure it gets to the right person. Send in your pictures or videos to Mrs. Lori Clark: clarkl@monroe.wednet.edu . We are excited to see each of you!
Have a great weekend and awesome week ahead!!!
