Buds rules to survive or thrive
Life gives you many opportunities in life, and it can be easy or hard. We can make choices and we either survive or thrive. I think that most of his rules are to survive because his rules are about being quick, being a good liar, and to be careful about what you say around strangers.
In ch. 3 on pg. 27 Rule #328 it says " When you make up your mind to do something hurry up and do it, if you wait you might talk yourself out of what you wanted in the first place." I think its to survive becasue if you wait for something you have to have patience to survive.
On ch. 2 pg.11 Rule #3 it says " If you got to tell a lie make sure it's simple and easy to remember." I think its to survive because if you survive to make a good lie you won't get caught.
On ch.13 pg. 157 it says " Never ever say something bad about someone you don't know- especially when your around a bunch of strangers, you never can tell who might be kin to that person or who might be a lip-flapping, big-mouth spy." I think it's to survive you have to be nice and be careful about what you say.
Bud uses most of his rules to survive but some are to thrive, but he is surviving in the great depression and he's only 10, and he's looking for his dad then finds him, but Herman E. Calloway doesn't even know he's Bud's dad.
