Dear Parents / Carers,
What a week it has been with the pandemic and now snow, I wonder what we can expect next week!
Thanks first of all to everyone who has been so understanding of the situation this week. It is never an easy decision to have to close school for bad weather and wherever possible we try to keep school open but ultimately I have to balance the needs of families, pupils and staff and sometimes it is just not safe to stay open. When you add to this the need to keep bubbles separated and individually staffed it becomes even more challenging, so thank you.
Home learning is now in full swing and teachers are working hard to balance their time between the key worker and vulnerable children in school with those working at home. As always, we recognise and understand that every family has different needs and different pressures, whether that is parents who need to work themselves, children without or sharing laptops or those where mental health is suffering. We will do our best to support where we can and know you are all doing what you can in a difficult situation. Thank you for all of the many positive messages we have received and please do let us know if we can help in any way.
Finally, a quick reminder for those coming onto site to wear a face covering please. The office is closed to visitors but staff are available daily to answer calls or emails.
I hope you have had the opportunity this week to play with your children in the snow or just to stop and wonder in the icy scenery, so many learning opportunities on our doorsteps!
Have a safe weekend,
Mrs Karen Williams

NYCC ENERGY AND SUSTAINABILITY SERVICE: Power down Pete Presents “Evil Dr Freeze and the Zombie Penguins”
This brand new website has been designed to deliver the important messages we need to stay warm and well this winter whilst supporting families in danger of fuel poverty.
In partnership with Community first Yorkshire, pupils can still access a range of activities from home or school which teach us all how we can stay warm and well this winter. Designed for all ages of children the “Cold Comic” is used as a concept to engage with the community on issues of fuel poverty and health.
