Announcements!
Sabrina Williams' Fifth Grade Class
Welcome Back!
Welcome back! I am Sabrina Williams, your children’s fifth grade teacher, and I hope all of you had a wonderful summer with your children; I cannot wait for what this upcoming year has for all of us! I have so many exciting project and field trips planned out for this year, so be on the lookout for messages regarding those topics! My contact information will be at the bottom of this newsletter if you have any questions or concerns, or if you have any information about your child that you would like me to know.
Collaboration and Communication Tools!
I am very excited to announce that we will be doing many group projects and activities throughout the school year, some with other schools in the surrounding area! To help make collaborating and communicating on the projects easier, we will be using a couple different applications! The three main applications that we will be using are: What Did We Do Today?, Think Binder, and Edmodo! I will talk more in depth about these applications at our open house, so I hope to see all of you there!
The Tools We Will Be Using!
What Did We Do Today?
· The WDWDT? Application allows me to connect to both you, the parents, and the students. I will not have your numbers, the application keeps it all to keep everything safe and secure. Through this application I can let you know of upcoming field trips, send out messages of what went on in class, and post polls/forms there for you to have! (like the volunteer sign up form for our upcoming field trip, hint hint) You can also set up times to meet with me here!
ThinkBinder
· We will be using ThinkBinder for our group projects. I will create groups and add the students to their respective group, and they will all be able to keep in touch with each other on here. Here, they can message each other, work on posts together, and there’s even an interactive whiteboard feature that lets them create mind maps, drawings, and outlines at the same time! We will especially be using this with our projects with the other schools.
Edmodo
· Edmdo is an amazing application that will allow the students to discuss the work that is done in class through the use of a mobile device or from the web. I will use this as a way to check everyone’s progress on the topics at hand, through the uses of Edmodo Snapshot! This shows me what the students are having trouble with, so that I can focus my teaching onto those areas more. This application is mainly used to help reinforce what we are doing inside the classroom.
Remember, Open House is this Thursday at 6!
