Happenings
- This is Teacher Appreciation Week! Monday, you will receive a schedule of events in your mailbox. If Wednesday is not a good day for you to receive a spa service, please contact Susan Resatar X-70951 to schedule an appointment for another time/date. WE LOVE OUR TEACHERS!!!
- Algebra I EOC exams are on 5/2 and 5/3 and AP Spanish Language exam is on 5/3.
The Mediavista Group will be filming our programs on Tuesday, May 3 from 9am-2pm. Their goal is to showcase the diversity of our programs and students. They will be spending no more that 10 minutes in each program. If you would have a simple 1-2 minute activity staged in your labs that would facilitate the process and reduce the classroom interruption, it would be appreciated. Please make sure your areas are clean, clear of clutter and as visually appealing as possible.
- This will be another busy week with visitors on campus. On Wednesday, May 4th, we welcome Avalon Elementary 5th graders and on Thursday, May 5th we have Parkside Elementary 5th graders learning about career programs and thinking about their future.

Spotlight on LWTHS Staff Member
Mr. Rutila currently teaches 10th grade English at LWTHS but will be joining the LWTC leadership team in June as a Workforce Education Coordinator. He is originally from Michigan, but moved to Florida for the weather. He used to vacation on Marco Island. This is a second career for Bruce whose first career was in business. He is married with two children—a daughter who is a freshman at USF (Go Bulls!) and a son who is a sophomore at Naples High. He once met Bruce Springsteen backstage. His living legacy is his two children who are thoughtful, caring, and intelligent human beings.
Spotlight on LWTC Staff Member
Mr. Mazzarella is the welding instructor for LWTC. He earned his welding credentials at a young age working in the industry with his family. At the age of 13 he became the youngest certified welder on the East Coast. As a middle and high school student he competed in SKILLS USA in national and world competitions. He even competed against one of the fabricators of the Orange County Choppers, but the show was never televised. When not working on his fabrications, John enjoys spending his time with his family—his wife, 22 month old son, 3 month old daughter, and the family dog. He enjoys the freedom to help mold the next generation of welders. Although he was trained by an older generation, he enjoys pushing his students to try new technology in the welding field.
