The Cat's Connection
April 2018
We are proud of our kids!
Our school is focused on engaging our students in meaningful ways! We work hard to expose our students to many different challenging experiences that help them build important skills such as critical thinking and collaboration. Our work as a staff is very challenging, yet it's very rewarding as we constantly get to see our students grow through the work they do. Throughout the year, we organize a variety of opportunities for our kids to display and demonstrate their hard work. Our Open House & Exhibition Nights in conjunction with our STEAM Nights help us showcase our students and give our parents and community opportunity to make connections with their school.
This week, we have another opportunity for you to wander around school with your kids and have them show off some of their work and the work of their classmates. We are very proud of the progress we are making and invite you to come and check it out. We'll see you at our upcoming Open House on Thursday night!
Glad you're here!

Evacuation and Reunification Drill Update
Evacuation and Reunification Drill Scheduled for April 27
The learning and safety of our children are top priorities at LaCreole Middle School. None of us wants to imagine what could happen, but none can disagree about being prepared for an emergency regardless of its cause.
Coming up on April 27, our school will take part in an evacuation and reunification drill. We want to have an opportunity to test our systems and protocols in a way that gives our school and our district much-needed feedback about what works and where we need more support.
Typically, this type of drill is designed to surprise and test preparedness. For us, being that we haven't had opportunity to take part in a drill of this size, it is more about the practice and value for district planning.
We advertise the date to eliminate as much inconvenience as possible so we can create a situation that is truly beneficial. We will not, however, advertise the location of our drill, so that we can accurately test the reunification facility and get a better picture of traffic patterns to and from the location.
We encourage all parents to send their students to school on the 27th. It would be easy to disregard this day as it will have little to do about academic instruction but, in our mind, this day will be valuable in so many other ways.
