Saber Speak
Dear Sabers,
Happy New Year and welcome back! We hope you have had a restful break and are ready as we are to take on the Spring Semester! Our amazing staff spent Monday and Tuesday this week diving deep into student experiences and social emotional learning, preparing lessons that meaningfully integrate technology to improve student learning, and reviewing common strategies to engage with students on a variety of levels!
We continue to focus on grit: the ability to overcome difficulties and focus on goals that are weeks, months, or even years in the making. This week, all students will get to reflect on their moments of achievement, what they overcame to get there, and consider what they can do to prepare for future success. Keep an eye out for Sinaloa's Gritty Gallery, a celebration of students' dedication and passion in the face of obstacles! We will have a presentation running in the main office, and will also be highlighting extraordinary stories in the Saber Truth.
SPECIAL NOTE: Please understand that Aeries schedules are subject to change until homeroom tomorrow and that we make every effort not to change academic teachers unless absolutely necessary.
Thank you for your patience, participation, and support! Looking forward to a great second semester!
Sincerely,
Bradley Torti

Counseling Corner
Students will receive a new schedule in their homeroom on the first day of class, January 9th. Some students may notice a slight change of order in their schedules. That is OK. We have a rotating schedule so the slight change is not so drastic. We do our best to keep student's academic teachers the same throughout the year. There can be a variation in the order of classes due to semester elective changes and PE changes.
Counselors will be available to speak to students with errors on their schedule AFTER school, as they will be meeting with any new students throughout the morning and supervising during lunch.
Thank you!
2018/19 Saber Club Schedule
Attached below is the flyer for this year's clubs. They are a great way for your student to make new friends, try new things, and even get help with homework. Check out the schedule with your student and encourage them to try at least one!
Attendance Policies
Attendance Phone Line: 805-520-6830 Press 1, or Ext. 7021 (Can call anytime day or night)
Para espanol, oprima la estrella. (Llama dia o noche)
ABSENCES - Parents have five (5) days to call-in, email, or send in a note to the attendance office to excuse an absence otherwise it becomes truant. Keep in mind that personal/vacation are verified but still considered unexcused.
TARDIES - If a student is tardy to homeroom or late to school, they need to check-in with the attendance office to get a tardy pass. Students tardy to homeroom will have a 15 minute detention after school unless a parent calls, emails, or sends in a note to excuse the tardy. Excessive tardies to classes will affect "citizenship" grade.
EARLY PICK-UPS - We encourage parents to call-in ahead of time (or send in a note or email) for early pick-ups so that we can have the student in the office ready to go. Anyone checking-out a student must be listed on the student's emergency contact list, be 18 years or older, and must show a valid ID.
