Lago Vista ISD announced a school closure for students from March 23-April 3rd. Mr. Webb, LVISD Superintendent, met with local emergency management, health officials and the Mayor on Monday, March 16th. Following that meeting, a Press Release was sent @ 5pm (you can read below). As a result, we are embarking on new territory as we support the needs of our community and students during this COVID-19-related closure.

Please understand the situation is very fluid and things can change quickly.

  • All UIL activities (sports, academic, debate, theatre, band) have been suspended until March 29. This includes contests, rehearsals, practices and workouts.
  • Governor Abbott announced that he has waived the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) testing requirements for the 2019-2020 school year. In response to the developing and rapidly-changing COVID-19 situation and in consideration of ways to further prevent the risk of exposure, Lago Vista ISD will be closed for students from Monday, March 23rd through Friday, April 3rd. Students will return to school on Monday, April 6th, unless conditions warrant an extension of this school closure. During the time schools are closed to students, teachers and administrators will be planning and preparing resources to assist with learning support at home.

Lago Vista ISD is committed to doing our part to keep our community safe during these unprecedented times, while also continuing to provide critical services and support for the education of our students. Our District Leadership Team is working diligently on a plan to help ensure that our students maintain instructional continuity during this closure. Later today, the District will send out a very brief telephone/email survey to give us a better understanding of our students’ access to technology devices and Internet services at home. We ask that every family complete this brief survey to assist the District with planning for instructional continuity during this closure.

We also understand that our students depend on our local schools for needs beyond academics. To help support student nutrition during this extended school closure, we are working with our School Nutrition Services provider, Aramark, to develop a plan for a pick-up school meal service during this closure. Additional information regarding this service, including times and locations, will be shared as soon as it is available.

The COVID-19 situation and the related school closures are undoubtedly a source of concern to our school community. Lago Vista ISD promises to remain vigilant in monitoring and responding to this ever-evolving public health emergency. We are incredibly grateful for your patience as we work to ensure that our families are receiving the support they need. We will continue to provide updates for our parents and families through Parentlink, the District website, and through social media channels.
