Team Orange ELA and Novels
September and October 2013
English Language Arts
In ELA we wrote our first 5 paragraph essay titled '3 Things' that allowed the students to introduce themselves to the class. We have discussed Greek Mythology to build a foundation for the New York State modules and began reading "The Lightning Thief" in class. Students have enjoyed working on projects, researching on their iPads, and getting to know their classmates!
Novels
Novels has been so much fun this month. We have learned about life in Afghanistan through our Scope magazine through the remarkable story of Malala. Students used Google Maps to locate the country and discussed the Taliban. Finally, we discussed many contrasts between education there and here. Each of us has chosen an independent reading book and are about 8 chapters into the book. There are 2 assignments due every Friday.
