Brandi Scarberry, Kindergarten

Room 112

Miss Scarberry has taught at Syring Elementary since 2013. She graduated from Swartz Creek High School in 2007. She earned her Bachelor Degree and Early Childhood Endorsement from Michigan State University.

Deena Crimp, Kindergarten

Room 111

Mrs. Crimp teaches kindergarten at Syring. She has worked at Syring since 1995. She graduated from Swartz Creek Community Schools in 1984. She attended The University of Michigan-Flint, graduating in 1988 with her Bachelors Degree and has 30 additional graduate hours of study from Eastern Michigan University.

Terrianne Harnden, First Grade

Room 110

Mrs. Harnden has been working as a teacher for Swartz Creek Schools since September, 1999. She holds a Bachelor Degree from Michigan State University, her first Master's Degree from Univerity of Michigan-Flint, and a second from MaryGrove College with a Reading Specialist Certification.

Chelsea Thomas, First Grade


Room 108

Ms. Thomas has worked in the Swartz Creek district since 2012. She attended the University of Michigan-Flint and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education with a Language Arts Major and Integrated Science Minor. Ms. Thomas is the varsity cheerleading coach at Swartz Creek High School as well.

Lindsey Bohm, Second Grade

Room 107

Mrs. Bohm has worked for the Swartz Creek School District since 2005. She has her Bachelor’s Degree and Early Childhood Endorsement from The University of Michigan-Flint and her Master’s Degree in Early Literacy from Walden University. She has taught pre-k, 5th grade, kindergarten and currently teaches 2nd grade.

Jamie Janowak, Second Grade

Room 109
Mrs. Janowak has taught since 1998 and loves it! She started working in Waterford then came to the Creek. She has taught early fives, kindergarten, first grade, and second grade. She went to Central Michigan University for her undergraduate degree then got her teaching certificate and master’s degree in Literacy and Language Development from Michigan State University.

Christa Matus, Third Grade

Room 102


Mrs. Matus has been teaching in the Swartz Creek Schools since 2014. She has earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education from the University of Michigan-Flint. Mrs. Matus has also attained 30 plus credits post Bachelor's degree.

Thuyen Kaczor, Third Grade

Room 101


Mrs. Kaczor has worked for Swartz Creek Schools since 2012. However, she had taught for Bellflower Unified School District in California from 2001 - 2012. She earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology, with a Minor in Business Administration from the University of California, Los Angeles. She earned her Teaching Credential with CLAD from California State University, Domingues Hills, and her Master’s Degree in Literacy from National University, CA. Mrs. Kaczor and her family live in Swartz Creek.

Michele Harbert, Fourth Grade

Room 99


Mrs. Harbert has been teaching for Swartz Creek Schools since 1998. She has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Michigan – Flint and she has also earned 30 Graduate Credits. Her two children, Adam and Jordan, both attended Swartz Creek Schools from Kindergarten through 12th grade.

Tara Dunlop-Kimbrue, Fifth Grade

Room 95

Mrs. Dunlop-Kimbrue has worked in the Swartz Creek district since 2000. After graduating from Flushing High School in 1991 she earned a bachelor of elementary education degree from Eastern Michigan University and a Master’s degree in the Art of Education from Marygrove College. Two of her six children have already graduated from Swartz Creek High School, two currently attend Syring Elementary and one is in early 5's at Dieck Elementary.
