Halloween Parade and Parking
If you are planning on driving to the parade,
- Do not park in the high school parking lot.
- At this time of day, you can park in any parking spot at LAF that does not have a traffic cone in front of it.
- You may park on the LAF lawn.
- Please be aware of the street signs if you are going to park on any of the side streets.
CANDY DONATIONS
Please donate any of your abundant Halloween candy so we can send it to our troops! Drop off will be outside the main office at LAF. We will pass it along to Operation Jersey Cares. Collection begins November 1st until November 5th!!
Book Fair Thanks
…..to Jen Cifrodella, LAF LMC Teacher for helping us transform the library into a winter wonderland of books for sale.
…..to the Book Fair Committee for organizing the event - Sarah Hadzima, Beth Ferguson, Beth DeCicco, Ashley Dunn and Katie Smith for the long hours, great decorating and amazing event.
…..to all our parent volunteers throughout the week setting up, working the fair and breaking down the event.
…..to our students for their compassion to help kids in New York City who are served by the Hudson Guild. They donated hundreds of their books and raised over $150 from their loose change that went to purchase new books for these children.
…..to our parents. With your support, the PTO was able to purchase a new book for every teacher within Lafayette whose wish list was not fulfilled, as well as over $300 of new books for the library.
It is worth sharing that one of the most popular books of the Book Fair, Guts by Raina Telgemeier, has an interesting back story from the author. Click here to read the NY Times article from October 21st highlighting Ms. Telgemeier's book.
Book Donations
We were thrilled to see how much enthusiasm and kindness the LAF Students showed collecting for the Hudson Guild. The photo at the right shows, Laura Ranji, Board Member of the Hudson Guild, buying new books with change donated. These will go to kids in the Chelsea area in New York City who are served by the Hudson Guild. By rounding up their change and donating into the loose change box, over $150.00 was raised that went to also purchase new books for these children. These new books and the donated books will be given to some of the 300 students between 5-17 years old who don’t often have books to read at home. Thanks again!
