Mrs. Mathe's Message

I hope that you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving break! I hope that you are able to slow down and take time to make memories as a family. Our family tradition is to have a traditional Thanksgiving meal, watch football and decorate for the holidays. We love to spend this time together, talking about old times and family memories. This is our family tradition. I hope your family has taken the time to create family traditions that are special to you as well. These memories are what remains when all the hustle and bustle of the holiday season is over.

Words of Affirmation- WE NEED YOUR HELP

We are creating a special gift for each of our staff members and we need your help! This gift will include words that describe each of our amazing educators...this is where we can use your help. Below is a link to a Google Form. Use this form to submit words that describe a Powell staff member (it takes about 20 seconds to do). We have ALL staff members listed including our paraprofessionals, custodians, front office support, and cafeteria staff.

Here is how it works,

  • Click this link
  • Select the team the person is on
  • Select their name
  • Submit 1-3 words that describes this person
  • You may submit as many as you would like- just click "submit another response"

Again, we will use these words to create a meaningful gift that is unique to each and every staff member. We ask that all submissions be made by December 4th. Thank you for your help with our little project!

Gifted and Talented Nominations

GT Referral requests are now open for Conroe Independent School District Gifted and Talented program. Although the testing will not take place until late January, referral requests are accepted at this time. Referral requests can be made by parents and/or campus staff.

It is recommended that parents of 2nd grade students wait until CogAT (Cognitive Abilities Test) scores have arrived before nominating their child as CogAT scores are part of the GT assessment. All 2nd grade students will take the CogAT October 18 & 19. 2nd grade parents will be contacted if their child will be nominated for further testing in the spring.

Referrals will be accepted October 3- December 16, 2022. You may request a referral packet from Mrs. Nixon at snixon@conroeisd.net
