Schedule for the Week of January 25th

What is Mandatory Time?
In a nut shell, Mandatory Time is a required opportunity for students who need additional support or enrichment to receive the extra time and attention with the teacher.
Teachers will direct specific students to attend Mandatory Time as appropriate for their needs. All others can work independently after lunch. All students are welcome to attend Mandatory time even if they are not directed to attend. Please note that school is from 8:00 - 3:00 each day. Students work asynchronously on Wednesdays after lunch.
Focus:
Mandatory Time will be used for skill building, standards not being met, work completion, test retakes, SEL (social emotional learning), and relationship building.
If a students is directed to attend by their teacher, they MUST attend. Attendance will be taken. Parents will receive an email notice when a student does not attend or meet the requirements to be counted as present.
What does it mean to be present?
Camera on
Head and shoulders in the frame
On time
Stay the duration (or until dismissed)
Active Participation
Students learned all about the expectations of this time during a presentation last Thursday or Friday in their PE class.
H.O.W.L. Points and Incentives
Honoring Integrity

Working Hard
Leading
Students earn points for displaying these positive behaviors. They can also earn points for attendance, grades, participation in clubs and activities, participation in spirit days, class competitions and learning activities, and attending Mandatory Time.
They can then use these points to earn incentives. After a survey of our students we have put the following incentives into play (just a sample):
School T-Shirts
Gift Cards to Amazon, Target, Walmart, Restaurants
Certificates for Carl's Jr. and In N Out
Shout outs on Social Media
Recognition or a custom message on the school marquee
Stuffed Lobos
Books
8th graders may turn in any left over Howl tickets from last year and they will be transferred into H.O.W.L. points.
Check out the Five Star Student HOWL Points website HERE.
We welcome any donations families would like to donate towards our incentives in any quantity. Monetary donations will be used to fund gift cards. Please email mkrantz@hartdistrict.org.

Nation Junior Honor Society
National Junior Honor Society will be inviting those that qualify into a Google Classroom.
Applications are for 7th and 8th graders that qualify. The code will be sent to student Gmail
by January 25th.
Students that had a 3.5 GPA or higher in their 1st and 2nd
