What does all of this data mean? Data remains just data if you don't use the information in some useful way. I would like to have our BLT members to discuss with staff informally over the next two weeks and share with Dan and me how the faculty and administration could use this data. (by September 27th)

Discipline Corner -VIBE and Climate Check
- Discipline Google Form or it is located in Google Sites Staff Handbook under McClure Forms
- Processing Sheet
- Flow Chart Referral Process
- Teacher v Office Managed Behaviors
Reminder: Use the same processing sheet at lunch as you would use in the classroom; however, the consequences progression during lunch remains the same. Lunch processing sheets should be returned to the office. I will make some colored copies and make them available.
As I read about Hack 4: Throw out the Rules, the following quote stood out as it represents the staff at McClure. "Teachers must expect Success, but also equip the students with the tools necessary to reach our high expectations" (Hacking Discipline, pg. 68). We have incredibly high expectations of ourselves, each other, and our students. I reflected and wondered if I have communicated my expectations to staff. Have we helped the students understand the lunch and hall or classroom expectations? What are the expectations when a substitute is in our classroom? Do our Ss need to be reminded of 10th-period expectations already? Telling the students one time is never enough, take this time to reflect and revisit expectations that we have of our students.
One strategy is to be clear about your expectations before beginning class through the preview method. It is a quick reminder of the expectations before students begin engaging in the work.
If an Ss still does not meet expectations, warn the Ss, be specific to the expectation not being met and be clear about the consequence.
Examples of Classroom Expectations:
- Engage in Productive Work
- Maintain a safe and clean environment
- Share Space Effectively
- Be Respectful
- We will grow from our mistakes
Example: If a student is on a game during class, a teacher could say please refer to expectation number 1 instead of get off that game.
