The Riverwalk Roar
August 25, 2019
Note from Dr. Compton
Pride,
I wanted to say "thank you" for such an awesome first week of school. You all rocked! You helped us by being flexible during the first few days of afternoon dismissal while we worked out a few kinks. We also appreciate that most of you arrived at school on time in the mornings, and in the afternoons. By everyone doing these things, it helped us spend our time focusing on our instructional program and our students during these first few critical days.
We do have a few reminders for everyone:
- Our day begins at 8:00 am, which means students should arrive early enough for them to transition to their classrooms and be in their seats at 8:00 am. For some, that means that you'll need to plan on arriving about 5 minutes earlier. For middle and high school students, students who are not in their seats by 8:00 am will be marked tardy.
- Only students who are enrolled in the Lions' Den may be dropped off before 7:30 am. For more information about the Lions' Den, please see below. Non-Lions' Den families, you'll need to pull up to our cones and wait until our Safety Patrol to arrive, which is at 7:30 am.
- We do not allow students to be picked up after 2:00 pm each day. If you need to pick up your child early, please plan on picking them up no later than 2:00 pm.
- All non-Lions' Den students need to be picked up by: middle/high (with elementary siblings) by 3:30 pm and elementary (who do not have older siblings) by 3:05 pm. Parents who arrive after these times will be asked to park to come inside so they can sign their child out.
Again, parents, thank you all so much for your help to make our first-week a success. With your assistance, we'll make this a memorable and successful year for all.
School-Wide Information
Car Tag (for parent pick-up)
Parents, those of you who have asked for your second tag, or ordered 3 or more, they are scheduled to arrive on Tuesday. They'll be distributed on Wednesday to the students for them to bring home. They'll go home in the elementary student's weekly folder.
School Lunch
Don't forget that lunch orders need to be placed by Thursday for the following week.
Elementary School News
Independence Day is Tuesday
Parents, starting on Tuesday, we want all of our students walking in by themselves. Just like we did last week, we will have adults in the halls and on the grounds to make sure our children know where to go. Especially for our kindergarten students, we want them to know that they can "do it" all by themselves. For safety and security reasons, Monday will be the last day parents can walk their children and Tuesday will be the last day that parents should walk their children to the door. Know that our Safety Patrol students, and staff, will assist as well in helping children get out of the car and on their way. After Monday, if adults need to come into the building, they will need to check-in at the main office. If you wonder if they can "do it," I promise you, they can. Please help your child prepare for this step of independence.
