PRINCIPAL'S REPORT
Kaayi MEPS kanara (Hello MEPS family),
Staff Development Day - change of date
As mentioned in previous newsletters, our Term 3 Staff Development Day has been moved from Monday 17th July (the Monday after the school holidays) to Monday 18th September (Monday of the last week of term). As mentioned previously , this would mean that students and staff would attend school as a normal day on 17th July , but on Monday September 18th classes at MEPS would not run as staff would be attending professional development activities offsite. I have spoken to Liz at WEMOOSH informing her of the date variation and she will prepare a proposal for WEMOOSH registered families. The school will not have classes or supervision of students on this date (18th Sept) as all staff will be off-site.
Mothers Day
Each year we have two big events linked to Mothers day. The Mothers Day Brekky the Friday before, and the P&C Mothers' day stall the Thursday before. Notes went home today and copies can be seen below. There is also information on the stall in the P&C Report below and also on the P&C and school Facebook pages.
Starstruck
As usual we have a contingent of students performing in Starstruck. Details are further down in the Newsletter about dates and how to buy tickets
Calendar dates
As you can imagine we are involved in a lot of activities at MEPS, and things get lost in the seesaw lists. Often I'm asked how can we know what is going on and when? Well...there are two ways...I have an upcoming dates section in each newsletter (see below) and we also have a calendar on the school website. We are also bringing back the weekly seesaw message of events coming up in the next week.
The other message I often get is about where does one look for earlier newsletters?...From the school website or from the Department of Education Parent App - under the heading "newsletters"'
Hopefully, this will make things a bit easier for you to know what is coming up.
Welcome Mrs Hedley
Mrs Hedley has joined our staff to replace Mrs Probert as our Learning and Support Teacher. She has joined us from the Central Coast, and we are thrilled to have her here working with our students.
Hopefully we have settled into our new Term. This issue we have quite a few photos from last term and last week. I am catching up with our photo galleries on the school website each weekend. I will have the Easter hat parade photos onto the website soon - It just took a while to edit the "no photo" kids.
Talk soon.
"Muruung Bangayi" (Awabakal for have a nice day)

EASTER HAT PARADE
Zone Cross Country 2023
On Friday 26th April, we took 22 excellent athletes to the Zone Cross Country today. They represented the school with pride and ran so well with most coming in the top 50 for their age group.
The students displayed exceptional sportsmanship supporting their peers as they competed. I was so proud to see the students run in challenging temperatures and still achieve so well. We are proud to say that we have two students who will represent Mayfield East at Regionals. Poppy came in sixth position in a very exciting sprint finish and Manny displaying a strong and steady run coming in third place. Congratulations to all our amazing Athletes on both your runs and your sportsmanship today. I would also like to thank Mrs. Bailey for her help supporting the students and getting them to the start line in a timely manner.
However, what made the day special was all the parents, aunties, uncles and grandparents who joined us today to support the students and for all of the offers for transporting students. Without your support the students would not get to experience these events but with your help and support we are creating a village to support our students.
Thank you, Mrs. Byrne
