RAIN FALL

Texas only gets 0-16 inches of rain fall each year. A huge hurricane brought 45 inches to Alvin. Port Arthur is the 3rd most humid spot in the U.S. with an average of 77%.

STATE SYMBOLS

The state song is "Texas, Our Texas." Texas has a nickname which is, The Lone Star State. That is to remind us that Texas is a former independent republic. Also to remind us of when Texas struggled to find independence. The state tree is the pecan tree. The state of Texas has a population of 26 million. Not including the 14 million cattle. Put together the population is 40 million. The state mammal is the Texas Longhorn. The small mammal is the armadillo. Texas's state mascot is a Longhorn named Bevo.

STATE FORESTS AND STATE PARKS

Texas has 5 state forests and 120 state parks. Some of the state forests names are, the Ruth Bowling Nichols Arboretum, and the John Henry Kirby Memorial State Forest. Some of the state parks are named, the Abilene state park, the Atlanta state park, and the Balmorhea state park. Also the Guadalupe River State Park.
