Memorial Day Ceremony
Jefferson's Memorial Day ceremony was held on Friday, May 27th at Jefferson.
There was playing of Taps, poem reading, and singing. Through this citizenship event, we hope to teach the students about honoring the service and sacrifice of our military men and women. Students and staff wore patriotic colors to honor all of our fallen heroes.
We were fortunate to have special veteran guests at the ceremony to lead the pledge of allegiance and receive special blankets that were created by Jefferson's Kids Care Club.
We were joined by local AMVETS Commander Mr. Fred Cockayne, AMVETS Finance Officer Mr. Jim Gardner, and Mr. Daryl Daily. Thank you for your service.
On Memorial Day, students are encouraged to take some time, even if just a few minutes, to think and remember those who have served and died but who will never be forgotten. The real meaning of Memorial Day is to honor and remember all those American soldiers who died defending our freedom.

A Time to Remember
Memorial Day
Is a time to remember,
To honor and show our respect
For all men and women
Who gave up thier lives
For the country they fought to protect.
Although we cannot
Picture all of their faces
Nor recognize each person's name,
We give thanks today for
Those brave U.S. Soldiers.
When called by our country, they came.

International Baccalaurete Lesson
Jannessalee Montgomery, Rachel Proper, and Shanika Manning presented the process by which water moves through a membrane (osmosis) and explained how salt effects that movement. They explained how plants used osmosis to take in water throughout the roots, and why our fingers get wrinkled up when when taking a bath too long.
The lesson culminated with an extremely fun gummy bear activity.
