Parkdale Elementary Weekly Update
I hope you have had a nice weekend. I’ve definitely missed being at school and am looking forward to the week ahead.
I was at a conference on Wed – Fri and was able to learn a lot and do a lot of reflecting. It is always nice to step back and do that from time to time.
Have a nice week,
Teacher Mid Year Growth
We talked about the mid-year growth forms the other day. Please plan on completing these by Feb. 18th. I’m not so concerned about a specific set of data. Please just use whatever information you have to update me on how you feel your students are progressing toward your goal. I'm also interested in hearing about your progress toward your professional goal.
I’m putting a form related to the Math Practices in your box this week. The Math Practices are the overarching skills that students will need to be successful problem solvers. The form includes questions that you can use to help guide your interactions with students. This may be helpful reminders of language to use with students as we guide them to be problem solvers.
Dental Health Presentation
The Tooth Fairy is planning to visit. A representative from The Dental Zone is willing to present a dental health presentation to our students. Please sign up for a time that works best for you. The sign up form will be in the mail room. The date will be TBA. Thanks
Growth Mindset at Parkdale Elementary
The Growth Mindset strategy of the week this week is...
* Value dignity
Other ideas that we came up with as a staff are linked below:
Teaching the Mountaineer Expectations: Month 5, Week 2
Remembering the word “step,” S-T-E-P, will help you remember the Second Step Problem-Solving Steps. Last week we were focusing on the S step, S: Say the Problem. This week we’ll focus on the T step, T: Think of Solutions. Solutions help you solve the problem. They’re ideas about what you could do. Your solutions must always be safe and respectful. This week, if you have a problem, remember to say the problem and then think of solutions!
