Week of September 16th - 20th, 2019
How do you know?
It is important to keep data, whether it be anecdotal notes, running records, exit slips, self-created assessments and more to show student academic movement. Get your students involved in this process. Set goals with them, meet periodically to discuss their progression. Make it engaging and give them some responsibility. Make it a BIG DEAL when they meet those goals and then set new ones.
I know some of you have already started the goal setting process with your students and that is fantastic. If you have not, please do so. They shouldn't have just an MOY and EOY benchmarking goal, they need a plan to get there. This means they need some smaller goals to meet on the way. Doing this will pay off, the students will take NWEA, Raz and state testing more serious and put forth the effort needed if they are trying to meet their goal.........especially if there is a pay off (motivation factor)!!!!
Start making those goals with your students!
