Principal's Message

Dear Chehalem Families,

Happy New Year! You should have received an email from the district this morning outlining new information about returning to school. I will keep you posted as new information becomes available, but the main take-aways are that we won't be returning until AT LEAST February 22nd and we are awaiting more information from the department of education on easing of the metrics that we believe we will receive on January 19th.

Parents will be polled by the district prior to that time to give us more of an idea of how many students might be returning if we go to hybrid and how many will choose to continue in CDL through the end of the year. It is possible that children may need to change teachers to meet the staffing needs of the different options that will be offered. We would, of course, like to minimize changes as much as possible.

I'm hoping that there is a light at the end of this Covid tunnel and that we will be able to see each other in person in the coming months.

Stay healthy and well!

Sincerely, Angee Silliman

Reading Screening Coming in January for all Kinder and First Graders

While the letter below says we are only doing it for all Kindergarten students and those new to first, we are doing it for all first graders too. More information to come from your teachers. We plan to target Wednesdays for this assessment so students won't miss class time.
