What the Tech?

My Tech Tip of the Month - Browsing History
With the recent deployment of Chromebook devices to our 8th graders at all middle schools and all 6th grade centers, not to mention the Chromebook carts at most elementary campuses as well, I want to share a new tech tip each month that is meant to help you!
For this month, I want to pinpoint student browsing history. When working with students, we have all had those moments where we are teaching, then walking around to monitor their work on their devices. It never fails that a student or two will instantly try to close a tab as soon as we get close to walking by. We all know that they're trying to hide something when doing this whether it's playing a game when they should be working, searching inappropriate topics, etc.
Here's where my Tech Tip comes in handy! If you see students doing this, or if you are just really concerned that they're up to something they shouldn't be, use the keyboard shortcut of CTRL+H to instantly pull up the student's browsing history. As long as the student isn't constantly clearing their history and data, it will show you all of the sites they have visited that day, and days prior. Take a look at the history and see if a conversation needs to be had with that student!
