THE BOOK FAIR IS COMING!
Scholastic Book Fair: November 28- December 2nd
The Scholastic Book Fair is back in person at Chestnutwold this year! Our fair will run from Monday, November 28, through Friday, December 2, in the Chestnutwold library.
Your child will tour the fair during their library time and has the opportunity to purchase books. There will also be two family nights on Tuesday, November 29, and Thursday, December 1, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. if you would like to shop with your children.
Here are ways you can get ready for the fair and support literacy and STEAM at Chestnutwold:
Sign up to volunteer during classroom visits, set up/breakdown of the fair, and family night: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0444a5a92daaf85-2022
Create an eWallet for your child to go cashless when shopping using Scholastic’s eWallets (any remaining balance will stay on your Scholastic account for future shopping—there will be no refunds to your credit card after the fair): https://bookfairs.scholastic.com/bf/chestnutwoldelementaryschool
Contribute to a teacher’s eWallet to help them build their classroom library during the fair: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1LbNwrsR28Ms1j3c0kVHGFHpmAp_Phzx9pUXVp1nPHHU/edit#gid=0
Note that you can send cash in an envelope marked with your child’s name and homeroom the week of the book fair. You can also purchase books online during the book fair at our Scholastic Book Fair webpage.

It provides a lot of information that will be helpful to you as parents. Anything that is changed or different is highlighted in yellow. On August 26th you will have an opportunity to speak with me via zoom for our 1st Lunch Chat with the principal. Please see the details below
Transportation
Message from the Transportation Department:
Due to our school buses being at maximum capacity, friends may not ride home with friends on a bus to which they are not assigned. If a family has a last minute aftercare emergency, please e-mail the Transportation Department with the request. If ridership becomes an issue, bus passes will be checked daily by the bus driver.

Interested in working at Chestnutwold ? (EDITED)
We are looking for 2 Building Assistants to help support the cafeteria and recess. If you are interested please apply to the school district. The position is elementary building assistant.
Support of Students and a strong learning environment
As you read through the handbook you will see that there are some changes to our system of support around climate and culture. As we continue to focus on our ChCk traits we have made some adjustments to our approach. These adjustments come from many months of work by the dedicated staff of Chestnutwold. You will no longer see check up and check down charts nor 123 magic in our school. What you will see is time dedicated to teaching the students and modeling for the students what a positive environment is and a series of reminders and reteaching taking place. You will also see school wide recognition when showing outstanding representation of our check traits. The staff and I are excited about this positive and restorative approach that we feel will help the students meet with great success and improve their ability to work positively with others.
