Mrs. Dixon's Weekly Enewsletter
Home to Planet Dixon's Out of this World 3rd Graders!
Week 32 May 9-13th
A HUGE THANK YOU to all students and families who made me feel extra special this week during Teacher Appreciation Week! It was all SO appreciated...it is ME that is the lucky one. I have the best class and I couldn't feel more blessed!!
Thank you to all who were able to come by and see the Living History Museum! I was so impressed with the turnout! I know it's so hard to get away (and deal with the traffic ;) so if you didn't come, you'll be just as impressed at Open House...they have some exciting things to share!
This next week we will be finishing up Open House projects and diving into our new Science Unit: Animal Habitats and Adaptations.
In math, we will be working on elapsed time (a tough concept for many) and multiplication fact fluency. Both of these will be the focus for homework...I encourage you to work with your child "on the fly." In the car, while making dinner, etc...ask him/her to tell the time (if you even have an analog clock ;) and then ask questions like:
*What time will it be in 2 1/2 hours?
*If it's ______ time and it took 1 hour and 15 minutes to make dinner, what time did I start?
*If it's 6:30 p.m. and I finish ________ at 8:15 p.m. How long did it take me to ___________?
In addition, math fact fluency is our continued focus so flashcards, math games, etc are encouraged.
And...that's it!! Shortest newsletter yet ;) Have a great weekend!!
