Mathigon functions similar to a classic math textbook, but it presents the material in a new, engaging, and exciting way for students. Teachers can use it to supplement their lessons, to highlight foundational subjects for students who may have gaps, to assign additional readings, or to brush up on their own knowledge.
Teachers are so creative!!
Critical Thinking.....How Critical Is It?
Critical thinking is actively making connections to the material and applying original thought to the concept being taught. Brainstorming, compare/contrast discussions, categorizing (what goes where...and why?) and allowing students to problem solve for a bit before offering assistance are all instructional strategies that can inspire deep thinking beyond rote memorization.
The questions below serve as a quick resource to help with class and individual discussions.
