Employees of the Year (LCAP Goal 5)
On Tuesday night, three of our amazing Gabilan family members were celebrated at the county wide Employee of Year celebration! The three wonderful employees that were celebrated were: Erica Heredia, Alma Cisneros and Rudy Canchola. We attended a dinner at the Embassy Suites in Monterey where our wonderful team was celebrated on stage by Dr. Deneen Guss. It was a beautiful night celebrating them!
Erica Heredia
It is my pleasure to wholeheartedly recommend Erica Heredia as employee of the year for Gabilan Elementary. Erica is Gabilan’s Secretary. She is a core part of what makes up the Gabilan team! Erica is one the few at Gabilan that truly run the school behind the scenes. Erica is always one step ahead of me. She is proactive and I so appreciate that! She often has already begun thinking of ways to address issues before I have even had a chance to check in with her on them. She is amazing at detail-oriented planning and ensuring things are completed in a timely fashion. She sees small details that I honestly might miss without her. She is always there for our students. She also makes every effort to get our staff everything that they need in order to do their jobs as amazingly as they possibly can. She is also innovative and great at coming up with new ideas and suggestions in creating new ways of doing things that might work even better. Her can do spririt, student-centered focus and love of her job consistently shine thorugh and make her so incredibly valuable! I am truly lucky to have her on our team. Erica is a core piece of the Gabilan team and we would not be Gabilan as we know it without her!
Alma Cisneros Florez
It is my pleasure to wholeheartedly recommend Alma Cisneros-Flores as employee of the year for Gabilan Elementary. Alma is Gabilan Elementary’s Family Liaison. She is an integral part of our team and we wouldn’t know what to do without her. Alma goes above and beyond on a consistent basis. She is always one that demonstrates support to all that she comes into contact with. She supports staff and students alike by providing resources to our students when they are in need. She is very welcoming with her warm smile and has provided staff with love and support.
Alma is a great support not only to staff, but also to all the families at Gablian Elementary. Alma is resourceful and helpful with staff, students and parents. Her dedication to finding clothes, food, and supplies for families in need is heartfelt. She is open and receptive to needs, comments and suggestions. She goes beyond her role and helps with everything from reading groups to setting up programs during distance learning to getting parenting classes going to setting up Food Bank. There is not one student/parent who does not know Alma. She is outstanding!
Rudy Canchola
It is my pleasure to wholeheartedly recommend Rudy Canchola as employee of the year for Gabilan Elementary. Rudy is Gabilan’s daytime custodian. He is a essential part of the Gabilan team! Rudy’s work performance is astounding. He goes above and beyond on a consistent basis. His focus is always on what is best for the students. He is the first one to reach out to help a student with anything they need. He takes extreme pride in his work. He goes above and beyond on a consistent basis from getting here early, to staying late to coming in on weekends to make our school the best looking that it can possibly be. He takes initiative and is always finding ways to make Gabilan a better place to be from helping a student find a sweater to listening when they need an shoulder to cry on to cleaning our outside tables on the weekends. Rudy truly takes what it means to be a custodian and ramps it up to a level in which few could ever match. Every single child on campus knows who he is and looks forward to seeing him because he has made such a strong, caring impact on them all. Rudy is a critical piece of the Gabilan team and Gabilan would not be the Gabilan we know without him here!
