Families are eligible to enroll kindergartners who will be five-years-old, on or before Sept. 1, 2022.

Exception: According to Michigan Law, a child may be enrolled in kindergarten if he/she is not five years of age on September 1, 2022, but will be five years of age no later than December 1, 2022 and parent or legal guardian notifies the school district in writing (Kindergarten Waiver Form) that he or she intends to enroll the child in kindergarten.

If you are considering enrolling your student using a Waiver Form, we STRONGLY suggest that you reach out to your child's elementary school and speak with the building principal.

Walled Lake Schools is excited to offer our families Junior Kindergarten for the 2022-2023 school year! Junior Kindergarten will support kindergarten readiness through a play-based curriculum. Our program will cultivate academic and social-emotional learning along with opportunities for play, creativity, and social skill development.

Eligible students must turn 5 years old between June 1 - Dec. 1.

*If your child's birth date falls outside this range and you are interested in JK, please contact the principal of your home school.

• Bus transportation available if your child's home school is Commerce, Meadowbrook, or Pleasant Lake
• Families would need to coordinate transportation to/from school if your child's home school is not one of those schools

The Walled Lake Consolidated School District is hosting Kindergarten Orientation for the 2022-23 school year on Monday, March 14 at 6:00 PM at all twelve elementary schools. This event is an informational evening for incoming Kindergarten Parents. Each elementary school will share important information about Kindergarten for the 2022-2023 school year.

WATCH: Be sure to watch this video prior to attending the informational Kindergarten Parent Orientation evening at Loon Lake on March 14th. This is a comprehensive video that will feature a welcome from several Elementary Principals and the Superintendent, mini presentations from the Kindergarten teachers, Transportation, Food Service, Student Services, and even recent Kindergarten students to give parents an idea of what students will learn in Kindergarten. The video is below and the link for the presentation can also be found on the Walled Lake Schools website at www.wlcsd.org.

SUBMIT: Please take a moment to complete a Google Form with your contact information and any questions you have after reviewing the Kindergarten Orientation video. Click the link below and you will be taken to the WLCSD Kindergarten webpage. Scroll down a bit and find your elementary school's questionnaire link on the right hand side of the page, under the heading, Kindergarten Orientation Questionnaire. Complete the form by simply clicking on your school's link.

This is a very important step. It allows each elementary school to gather your contact information to use for future communications.

ATTEND: Incoming Kindergarten Parents are invited to join the building principal and building Kindergarten Team for an informational evening at your home school.

Presentations will begin at 6pm.

Note: This is an adult only event. Child care will not be available.

ENROLL ONLINE: Please see below for information about the virtual enrollment process. It is important that you gather all of the required documents BEFORE beginning the online registration process. Families will be able to scan and/or take photo images of the necessary documents and email them to Walled Lake Schools Student Services Office. Finally, click on the button that says Begin Enrollment to complete the online enrollment process, available March 15th.
