Mammograms
Mammograms are x-rays taken of the breast for people who have not had the symptoms of the disease. They have diagnostic mammograms and screening mammograms. Diagnostic mammograms are for those who have been diagnosed and are now just being monitored. Screening mammograms are for those who have not been diagnosed but are just getting a check up. Both men and women should get mammograms because of the risk of breast cancer. Women should start getting mammograms every 2 years once they hit the age of 50 and 74 but for every one it is different because of individuals family history. Mammograms are designed to detect for breast cancer witch is caused by gene mutations in your breast. Some of the recommended ways to prevent breast cancer are controlling weight, limiting intake of alcohol, being active, breast feeding and many more.
Pap Smears
Pap Smears are a test of the mucus from the cervix that allows them to test for any irregular cells or any other problems. Women that are 21 should start getting a pap smears every 3 years to make sure she is healthy. In some cases doctors will suggest to get them done more frequently. Pap smears help detect any type of illness or cancer with in your reproductive system. The best way to prevent these cancers and STD's is by not smoking, having safe sex and staying away from HPV.
Testicular Exams
Testicular Exams are when you check your testicles for any unusual color, bumps or soreness. All males should examine their testicles monthly after puberty. When you check you are looking are looking for any abnormalities or cancers. Cancer is formed up of abnormalities in your blood cells. You can prevent these by keeping your testicles clean and checking your self regularly.
Prostate Exams
Prostate Exams are rectal exams that look for prostate cancer in hopes of catching it early for people who do have it. Prostate exams are for males. You should get a prostate exam every 4 years when you are 40 years of age and older. Prostate cancer is cause by abnormal cells in your prostate glad wich cause it to be cancerous. The best way to prevent prostate issues is by watching what you eat and having an active lifestyle.
