Elementary Distance Learning Update

4.17.20

Welcome to Week 4, Tigers!

As we look ahead towards week 4 of our Distance Learning, I am reminded of all the blessings our Tigers have been given to grow up in the Medford Community. Your commitment to education and supporting all our Tigers in this unprecedented learning journey will continue to make our community strong for years to come. Thank you for all of your continued support of our teachers and your students!

In the parent/guardian feedback form from last week, many of you mentioned that you would like to know more ideas about motivating students. I am going to feature some of the FUN we have had this school year. As much as we love teaching and learning, we also enjoy laughing and celebrating success with our students!

Tiger Pride Celebrations

One way we get together as a school is our Tiger Pride Celebrations. These celebrations are held once per month.

We encourage you to also find ways to make sure that during this time of Distance Learning you are able to find time to pause and have fun, too.

Here is how our Tiger Pride Celebrations work at school....

As teachers recognize students exhibiting acts of Kindness as well as showing our Tiger Pride behaviors of being safe, respectful, and responsible, they nominate those students to be recognized during our celebrations. We then have student leaders who announce their names during the celebrations and the students will come up on stage to be recognized. Mr. Carlson will then announce the students of the month to come up on stage to receive their award. These students will also participate in a fun activity that is organized by rotating teams each month. The pictures below are from our February Tiger Pride Celebration. We sure had a great time!

Here is how it could work at home....

After a great day of Distance Learning, this could look like a celebration with a game of UNO, a walk around the block together, or letting your child(ren) choose what is for supper that evening!

We miss learning with your child(ren), but we sure miss all the fun, too!

HOW WILL WE HANDLE SCHOOL ISSUED DEVICES THAT NEED REPAIRS?

Families will complete THIS FORM . (This form is also linked on our school website under the Distance Learning tab "Technology") Once this form is completed, the information will be shared with the proper staff member who will attempt to repair the school issued device (ipad or chromebook) This service will run through our four lunch stops from 11:00-1:00. Families will drop off the device with the para in charge at that time at one of the four lunch stops, sign necessary paperwork and they will bring it back to school for our technology department to take a look at. The drop off and return days will be Mondays and Thursdays. This service is subject to change as we move through our distance learning model.
