Getting Kids to Talk About Their Day
Many of our kids come home and get asked the age-old question, “How was school today?”. Our parent ears are so disappointed when we hear the reply, “It was fine”. Changing the question can make a difference in the answer we get, but also the thinking and perspective taking of our children. Start by asking questions that require more than a simple answer. What was something new you learned or hear about today? If your student struggles at school or does not like going to school, ask questions that challenge them to see the positive aspects of school. What was the coolest thing that happened at school? What did you do that was helpful to someone today? What was your favorite thing you did at school? You can also start their morning off by giving them a challenge and then ask them about it in the evening. For example, what can you do to be kind to at least 3 people today? Ask them about it when they get home. Not only do your after-school discussions actually become discussions, but your children are also thinking differently about school based on the questions they are asked. Check out the list for more open-ended questions.
- What made you smile today?
- Can you tell me an example of kindness you saw/showed?
- Does everyone have a friend at recess?
- Did anyone do anything silly to make you laugh?
- What did you do that was creative?
- What is the most popular game at recess?
- What was the best thing that happened today?
- Did you help anyone today?
- Did you tell anyone “thank you?”
- Who did you sit with at lunch?
- What made you laugh?
- Did you learn something you didn’t understand?
- Who inspired you today?
- What was the peak and the pit?
- Was anyone in your class gone today?
- What is something you heard that surprised you?
- What is something you saw that made you think?
- Who did you play with today?
- Tell me something you know today that you didn’t know yesterday.
- What is something that challenged you?
We still need party planners for the Fall Parties on 10/28!
You would be responsible for planning a party for your child’s grade level, creating a sign up, gathering and sorting supplies, giving supplies to teachers! (You do NOT need to run the party, unless you feel comfortable!)

Walk in the Park Hill Homecoming Parade with us!
We will meet by 4:45 in parking lot of Prairie Point- parade starts at 5:00. It is recommended that people park at the end of the parade route (east parking lot of Park Hill High School) and walk to Prairie Point due to the extremely limited parking at Prairie Point.
Bring candy to throw and homemade signs celebrating Tiffany Ridge to carry - you can even wear a costume. The Homecoming theme is "There's no place like home(coming)" and is based around The Wizard of Oz.
Park Hill Athletic & Activity Event Information
Park Hill Staff and Families,
As we’ve started our fall athletic and activity events, we’ve been excited to welcome students, families and fans to our schools and fields. With this, we have a few reminders to help make our events safe and welcoming for all:
Tickets for athletic events are $5 cash at the door.
All high-school and middle-school students must have an official school ID badge to enter games and events.
Any students who are not yet in high school must be with their parents or guardians to attend games and events. Middle school and elementary school students will be asked to remain with an adult for the duration of the event.
Students unaccompanied by an adult, or without their ID, will be asked to contact an adult immediately and will not be allowed into the event.
We look forward to hosting our students, staff, families and guests in our community schools and facilities. Thank you for helping us gather safely and positively.
We look forward to seeing you,
Kelly Wachel
Director of Communication Services
September Curriculum Connections
Check out the linked Curriculum Connections below to see what our Timberwolves will be working on in each subject area during the month of September! We want to share the learning topics at all of the grade levels so that you are familiar with what topics and content are taught this month! Your child's teacher is always happy to provide more details should you have questions!
Donations: In-house Field Trips
We want to ensure the students & staff are having fun throughout the year! Along with our planned social events, we hope to bring enrichment to monthly assemblies at school.
Along with business sponsors, we can always use your support. Feel free to donate financially, gift-in-kind, or your time. Every little bit counts! We would also like to hear your suggestions or connections! Please email tiffanyridgepta@gmail.com if you have some recommendations. Thank you!
Family Support Service Options:
