News to Know...
Hello Stoller families,
I hope you all are ready for the fall weather coming our way. As it starts getting darker in the mornings and our roads are a bit more slippery, please remember to drive slowly and watch out for students as you drive to and from school.
We are looking forward to Halloween festivities and would like to remind you that students can wear costumes, but no masks, no face painting, and no accessories that resemble a weapon.
I hope you all have a great weekend.
Veronica Galvan
Principal

Attendance Reminders
Last Reminder...
- Attendance has moved to the main office. Please visit the main office to sign students in and out.
- Parents do not need to send a note or call for early pickup. We will call students out of class once parents arrive to minimize the loss of valuable class time.
American Math Contest (AMC) 8
The American Math Contest (AMC 8) will be held from 9:15-10:15am on Tuesday, November 13th. The AMC 8 is a nationally recognized mathematics contest for those students who are interested in mathematics. It covers all content through Geometry. If any student is interested please talk to your current Math teacher about taking a practice test. Math teachers will make recommendations to Mr. Norse for the final list of students who will take it.
Unfortunately, Stoller has only 200 spots for the entire school which means that everyone can't take it officially. If a student can't take it officially, they can still take it unofficially to see how they do.
If you have any specific questions, please email Mr. Norse directly.

Any questions please contact Ms. Svenson.
Science Bowl Sign-ups
If you are interested in having your son/daughter try out for Science Bowl, we will be giving a screening test on Wednesday, October 31st in the cafeteria at 2:30pm. Please sign-up by clicking the link below, so we can get an idea of how many students to expect. More information will follow once we have made student selections.
Maker Space
Last Reminder...
What is a Maker Space? The PTO has been using these words when we talk about the projects we want to fund for the 2018-2019 School Year. It is more than a SPACE, it is a WAY OF THINKING. The attached video is a great introduction to the Maker Space concept. The PTO is hoping to make a large contribution to the Maker Space program so that it can impact the entire school instead of just a small group of students.
Stoller PTO - $50 for 50
Thank you Stoller Families! Donations have been steady this week. From all sources (including company matching) we have received $17,900 in donations. With a goal of $50,000 we are going to extend the campaign by one more week. Even without supporting the cost of school projects such as the Maker Space and Library updates, the PTO operates on a budget of $35,900. As you can tell, we still need your donations. If you have not made a donation please consider doing so. Any amount will help us continue to support Stoller students in many ways. Donations can be made online at StollerPTO.com/donate or by dropping off a check at the main office.
Stoller PTO - Boo Breakfast!
Last Reminder...
It is time for our first teacher appreciation event of the school year! The annual Boo Breakfast is scheduled for Wednesday, October 31st, and we need your help to put together this fun and festive morning.
If you are interested in contributing food items for this event, please go to our Sign-Up Genius site and register for the item(s) you will bring.
Questions? Please contact Lauren Mauery at lwmauery@gmail.com. Thank you for supporting our awesome teachers and staff!

BEF (Beaverton Education Foundation) Phone-A-Thon
It takes a community to make strong public schools; thank you, Beaverton Families, for your support.
The Beaverton community rallied in support of our 53 public schools by donating over $109,000 to the Beaverton Education Foundation (BEF) during our 20th annual Phone-a-thon. Thank you to all families who answered the call. Your donation impacts over 41,000 Beaverton students!
As the non-profit school foundation for Beaverton’s public schools, BEF enhances our students’ education by raising money to fund hands-on, innovative, academic enrichment and advancement programs and projects that otherwise would not be possible with normal school funding. BEF mobilizes community resources to fund innovative classroom, summer and after-school programs.
If you missed the call, you can still help our 41,000 Beaverton students to have the opportunity to be inspired, think innovatively, and succeed by donating today at www.beavertonEDfoundation.org
Talented and Gifted (TAG)
Every year all students are considered for identification as Talented and Gifted in the Beaverton School District. District policy defines gifted students as those who score at or above the 97th percentile on a standardized, nationally normed test of mental ability and/or academic achievement. Behavioral, learning, and/or performance information is also considered before a student is identified for TAG services.
If you think your child might exhibit qualities that typically are used to describe giftedness, you may wish to complete a Parent Information Form which can also be picked up from the main office. Completing this form does not guarantee that your child will be tested; it gives the TAG committee additional information in the nomination process. Please note the deadline for TAG parent nomination is Wednesday, October 31st.
Learning Options
The application timeline has changed for the 2019-2020 school year. The lottery application phase has been shortened to make Second Consideration applications available earlier. This will allow students more time to work on their applications and schools more time to review them.
The Beaverton School District is nationally recognized for high student achievement and innovative programs. Beaverton students in grades 6-12 have the opportunity to investigate learning options that best fit their academic needs. Students can choose their neighborhood school or apply for one of a number of learning options. Transportation is provided.
Applications for the 2019-2020 are now available. Please plan to attend one or more of the open houses that are available. Students may only select one option on their application, so do some early investigation of the options online.
All applicants must reside within the Beaverton School District boundaries. Beginning October 15, current Beaverton School District students are able to apply online using their student ID. Resident students not currently attending a Beaverton school, or who do not have Internet access, will need to complete a paper application (spanish paper application) available online, or at any school office beginning October 15, 2018. Please give careful consideration to your choice of school. Once an application has been submitted, no changes will be allowed.
Applications must be received no later than Friday, December 7, 2018 at 4:00 p.m. (PST).
