35th Annual GED® Recognition Ceremony

Thank you to all of the staff, students, families, and guests, who helped make the Adult Learning Center's 35th Annual GED® Recognition Ceremony a very special event. The May 27 ceremony celebrated students from the Class of 2021 as well as students from the Class of 2020, whose ceremony was cancelled last year.

Congratulations to the ALC students who earned their GED® Certificates during the 2020-21 school year: Kaheila Blair, Monica Boone, Faith Burnside, Elizabeth De Jesús Gonzalez, Jasmine Dugan, Esther Espino, Sonia Garcia, Brittney Gilliland, Tristan Griffin, Bobby Hanks, Meredith Hansen, Thomas Harmon, Assia Koudiche, Annalisa LaZar, Sabrena McFarlane, Sarah Mitchell, Edward Morrissey, Meagan Murray, Blanca Partida, Joshua Sital, Rachel Sivils, Mackenzie Swafford, Billy Varela, Mimi Williams, and Marla Wimberly.

"It was a beautiful experience that I’ll remember forever," said Blanca Partida about the ceremony.

The cap worn by Elizabeth De Jesus Gonzalez was decorated with flowers and the following message in Spanish: Más vale tarde que nunca (Better late than never).

Sabrena McFarlane was able to attend the ceremony after her family's relocation overseas was delayed: "I am so happy I was able to be a part of the celebration and to be able to share this experience with my family."

"It was such an honor and privilege last night I couldn’t stop smiling," shared Meagan Murray a day after the event. "I was so overcome with joy to meet Mrs. McGovern at the stage. I tear up right now just to think how awesome your teachers are, and I’m so thankful to have had the opportunity to have met you all!"

Likewise, our ALC family is honored to know and support our students in reaching their goals. Congratulations to all students for this outstanding accomplishment. We wish you every success in your future endeavors.
