Jack Petchey Award Ceremony
Congratulations to our Jack Petchey winners who attended the Jack Petchey award ceremony on Tuesday 10th October at the Chelmsford Civic Theatre. It was an amazing evening spent celebrating all the achievements made by Olivia Bruns, Joshua Kemp-Nicholls, Isabelle Hooper, Nina McBurnett and Ky Emerick. They should be incredibly proud and keep up the incredible hard work.
If your child knows of any student who goes above and beyond what is expected of them, either in school or outside, please encourage them to contact hgilderson@chelmer.essex.sch.uk with a Jack Petchey nomination. Students have the opportunity to win £300 to spend in a department of their choosing and receive an award for their achievements if selected as winners.

Visiting Speaker to OCR Child Development Course
On Tuesday 17th October, Gemma kindly brought in her daughter who is three years old for Year 11 students to observe, as part of their assignment for their Child Development course.
Students are studying the expected milestones of development for physical, intellectual and social development. In the observation, their focus was to observe the physical milestones, including gross and fine motor skills. They were able to ask lot of questions to Gemma and her daughter and were able to identify the milestones she achieved during the observation. This was a fantastic opportunity for students to gain an understanding of all areas of development in a real life situation.
Thank you to Gemma for giving up her time the students really enjoyed the observation as well as gaining a greater depth of understanding of the expected norms of development for a three-year-old child.
The Digital Leaders Program
At CVHS we are introducing a new program that is open for students in Years 7, 8 and 9. The Digital Leaders program allows students who have a keen interest in computing technology to get involved in supporting us around the school, in class, and even assemblies!
So if you know how to fix computer problems but were not sure you could offer to help, or you want to learn more about how computing technology is used, or you just want to show off your technical skills, join the Digital Leaders program today!
Students will meet regularly to discuss the activities we have done or any new ones we could do, as well as meeting for any training that may be required. They will receive a nice new badge for their blazer and any help they give around the school will gain merits.
More importantly, for some students, this program gives them the opportunity to contribute to the school community in a way that they may feel more comfortable to do so and showcases their talents.
