Calamity Day & Norovirus Info

Calamity Day

On Friday, 9/10/2021, The Charles School at Ohio Dominican University will be closed due to staff shortage. Classes will not be held, either in person or virtually at TCS and no additional work will be assigned by teachers. This is considered a calamity day. Students who attend classes at Ohio Dominican University or Columbus State Community College will still have courses and are responsible for making their own transportation arrangements. The staff shortage is not related to COVID or any other specific illness. The Front Office will be open from 9AM - 3PM for normal operations.

Norovirus (aka Stomach Flu)

We have noticed an uptick this week with students demonstrating symptoms consistent with the Norovirus (also known as Stomach Flu).

Norovirus is a very contagious virus that causes vomiting and diarrhea. People of all ages can get infected and sick with norovirus.

The most common symptoms of norovirus are:

  • diarrhea
  • vomiting
  • nausea
  • stomach pain

Students should stay home until they have not had any symptoms for 24 hours. Illness usually shows up 12-48 hours after exposure.

If your student is experiencing these symptoms, please keep them home and contact the front office (phone and email is below).
