April 15 Hot Spot Pick-up
Change is hardest at the beginning, messiest in the middle and best at the end.~Robin Sharman
A Message from Mrs. Davis
The business office is working to get field trip monies refunded to our fifth grade families. I hope to have all refunds to families by the end of April.
Curbside meal pick-up times have changed starting today and meals may be picked up on Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays from 9:00-11:00am.
Remind your children that life will return to normal and try to enjoy the bonus time with them. Get outside and enjoy nature and make time to strengthen family bonds. Despite what is going on around us, we can still focus on the positives. If nothing else, it reminds us to not take for granted the little things in life. Rest assured, soon we will once again be able to find joy in each other's company, we'll be able to get back to being together and learning together.
Our students are missed---we look forward to seeing you all again soon.

WE are going ONLINE with Distance Learning on April 20th
Teachers have been working really hard this week creating learning modules and preparing materials for paper packets. We will shift from optional learning supports to learning modules on April 20th. Teachers will reach out to parents as we get closer to April 20th with more information about the learning modules, office hours, grading, etc. Here is more information about the distance learning plans for Lago Vista ISD:
Distance Learning Grading
While providing feedback to our students and progress monitoring their performance will not change, some of our grading guidelines will have to be amended during this time. As mentioned, we will take one grade per teacher/subject per week for TEKS-based courses. In order to receive a passing grade for the 4th nine weeks, students are expected to complete and submit each weekly assignment and meet grade-level standards. And, as always, a student's final grade in a course is the determination of the classroom teacher and must be based upon performance on assignments and assessments designed to evaluate students' master of the TEKS.
Nine Weeks Grading for Grades 4-5
Although assignments in grades 4-5 will continue to receive numeric grades, course grades for the 4th nine weeks will move to a Pass/Fail system. As such, grading for the 4th nine weeks will have three options:
I - INCOMPLETE (Will translate to a “0” if missing assignments are not submitted prior to May 15th).
P - PASS (100% in semester calculation, in accordance with weighted table)
F - FAIL (69% in semester calculation, in accordance with weighted table)
Retention and Promotion Standards
Lago Vista ISD's standards for grade-level retention and promotion will remain in effect, as outlined below.
- Promotion in Grades 4-5: In grades 4-5, promotion to the next grade level shall be based on an overall average of 70 on a scale of 100 based on course-level, grade-level standards (essential knowledge and skills) for all subject areas and a grade of 70 or above in three of the following areas: language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies.
