BSE PLAYGROUND - Updated Information!

Big picture

**This is not a picture of the actual playground**

There have been lots of questions about the playground and when it will be built and how much money we have raised, etc. I sent home a letter to all stakeholders answering some of the questions that had been asked by parents and the letter is below in case you missed it! I do have some updates about the playground! I met with Collierville Schools Operations and a playground vendor to discuss the type of playground we can put up as well as where the playground will go, etc. The good news is that we should hopefully be able to start on the playground this summer while the kids are out of school and it will be ready to open next fall. Hopefully, all will go as planned and everyone can enjoy the new playground next year.

What to bring: Birth Certificate and Social Security Card

If you bring these two items we will make copies and give you a packet to fill out and return. We do not need residency proofs at this time as we will look at proofs on registration day in August.

If you know anyone that will have a student entering kindergarten next year share with them the date of our kindergarten kickoff! This is a great night for parents and students to see the school and meet the kindergarten teachers as well as share information that will help all parents know the expectations for registration and testing. The flyer is below!

What is Eureka Math?

Eureka Math connects math to the real world in ways that take the fear out of math and build confidence - helping students achieve true understanding lesson by lesson and year after year.

Eureka Math as written by a team of teachers and mathematicians who took great care to present mathematics in a logical progression from grade PK – 12. This coherent approach allows teachers to know what incoming students already have learn3ed and ensures that students are prepared for what comes next. When implemented faithfull, Eureka Math will dramatically reduce gaps in student learning, instill persistence in problem-solving, and prepare students to understand advanced math.
I know that many of you are struggling when you are trying to help your children with Eureka Math and we hope that we as a school can help you in this area. We have met in our PLC's and discussed your concerns and better ways to help everyone as we move forward with Eureka Math. Teachers will be sending home "notes" so to speak to give you an idea of what they have taught in class so that you have a visual to talk with your child about if they are working on a problem. We will send these notes home through Schoology or SeeSaw. Some grade levels have already started this but hopefully, every grade level will begin to give you some help in this area!

Technology Update: Schoology - Learning Management System

Parents,

You will be receiving a letter home to give you an access code to your child's Schoology account. This is only for grades 3-5 at this time. Schoology is an integrated learning management solution that provides course management mobile learning and support for system-wide communication. It also enables our students, parents, and teachers to engage with learning materials and their school community. With Schoology, students can digitally submit assignments, review grades, participate in interactive discussions, receive announcements and feedback, take tests, write academic blogs, and more. As a parent, you are able to view your child's activity within the platform.

Our fourth and fifth grade have been using Schoology as part of their classroom work, assignments, etc. In the elementary setting, we have not used it for reviewing grades but as we move forward this will be another component we will use. Our 3rd grade has used SeeSaw more than Schoology but as we move into next year we will integrate Schoology in 3rd grade as well.
