We Are St. Ann School
Principal's Newsletter By: Mrs. Bonnie Hall (1/27/2017)
Happy Catholic Schools' Week!
Catholic Schools' Week kicks off with our special Mass on Sunday, January 29th at 10:30 a.m. followed by an open house.
EVERYONE is invited to Open House. This is a perfect opportunity to see your child's work, meet your child's teacher for next year and reserve your child's seat for 2017/2018 by submitting your family's registration fee. Please do a walk-through, say hello, have a cookie, and give thanks to our God for all who/what He has blessed us with. Let's celebrate Catholic education!
Parent and Student Ambassadors will be on hand to make our Open House a great success.
Open House is also our opportunity to welcome new school families; tours will be offered.
I'm sending home a flyer today with a list of the week's special activities. Let CSW begin!
Roughrider News Briefs:
- Mark your calendar for our next Supper Club to be held on Friday, January 27th at Kacey's Restaurant (Knights of Columbus) in Lansing.
- Congratulations to our 4th graders who clipped their way to a pizza party in a recent Box Top Challenge! Look for a BoxTop News Flyer that will be going home on Monday.
- Congratulations to Anthony and Nick Mangano who represented St. Ann School at last weekend's Knights of Columbus Spelling Bee.
- Congratulations to Ava Dabrowski whose cover design was selected for the HSA Directory this year; she was awarded a gift certificate to Noodles and Company.
- This past Monday I was honored to have a teacher who is studying to be an administrator shadow me for the day. The Archdiocese asked if Mrs. Kelly Rojas could shadow me for one day to see what a "typical" day of a principal is like in a Catholic school. She was so impressed with our students, faculty, and staff. I showed her everything and had her interview teachers and staff for their perspective/advice for an aspiring administrator. We thank her for visiting us, and wish her blessings as she decides if administration is her Calling.
- Next week I will release our tentative 2017/2018 school calendar.
- We will be participating in the Roundball Food Drive along with our fellow Lansing schools; we'll be sending home more information on how we can assist our neighbors via the Lansing Food Pantry.

Emergency Closing Information
- http://www.emergencyclosingcenter.com - You can sign up to receive an email from this website shortly after I notify the site of a closure. This is the service that the newscasts utilize to notify the Public of a school closing. When you see the "crawl" at the bottom of a newscast, it came from this website that principals update.
- SchoolMessenger Phone Call - A recorded message is sent to your specified numbers
- Facebook - Like us at Saint Ann Catholic School, Lansing
- Remind - Teachers often will post a closure to their Remind texting accounts
- Please do not call the school to see if school is open; more than likely we are not at school when the decision for an emergency closing is made.
