The Nurtury Montessori School
February - Lunar New Year; Year of the Dragon ๐
Hello Parents!
'Gong hei fat choy' | ๆญๅๅ่ดข
What does that mean? It's a common Cantonese Chinese New Year greeting that means 'wishing you prosperity and good fortune' :)
According to the Chinese calendar, it is the year of the Dragon! Children are currently painting a dragon and adding the final touches as we prepare for the Lunar New Year in the school. To mark this occasion, please dress your children in red or in their Chinese outfits on the 9th of February 2024. On this day, we will have a mini parade with our lanterns, and the dragon. We will also learn about the race of the 12 animals and the Chinese zodiac.
Here are some other traditional greetings, including how to pronounce them!
In other news, children are busy learning about the continent of Asia. During the study, we will cover the animals, famous buildings, flags, trees, and fauna.
We are very excited to include Spanish and cooking lessons in our afternoon curriculum this term. Thank you, parents, for your encouraging feedback and for providing the necessary ingredients to make this program a success.
