ZOOM as a tool for Distance Learning
ZOOM - Thank you Gordon F.
For having potentially up to an entire class online at once I’m leaning to Zoom because:
- a moderator can mute everyone and ALL with a click
- kids can call in by phone if the internet slow
- built-in screencast WHITEBOARD feature
- can save video and auto-downloads to your machine to post for anyone
- easy to set up a recurring meeting every day for up to 40 minutes
Yes, this is the free version and you can log in with Google.

Settings. The Tahoe School Tech Director recommends changing are:
- Join Before Host - On (Gordon says… for kids I would make them wait so it would be OFF)
- Mute Participants Upon Entry - On
- Upcoming Meeting reminder - On
- Chat - Off
- Private Chat - Off
- Allow Host to Put Attendee on Hold - On
- Always Show Meeting Control Toolbar - On
- Screen Sharing
- Who Can Share - Host Only
- Disable Desktop ScreenShare for Users - On
- Virtual Background - Off
