BAYVILLE SCHOOL
DECEMBER 2020
PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
You have recently received an email from the Berkeley Township School District outlining our plan for HyFlex learning. This new plan will enable us to add in additional instructional time for our hybrid students, while still diligently following health and safety guidelines. To achieve our goal of providing more live instruction over the next few weeks we will be testing our bandwidth and technology to ensure it can withstand the increase in usage. Teachers will be providing 1 hour of teaching for both students who are in class and students who are remote at the same time. Parents will be notified in advance of their child’s schedule for their remote learning days. Below is the planned roll out of our testing: December 17th and December 18th grades 3 and 4, and December 21st and December 22nd grades 1 and 2. At this time the schedule for preschool and kindergarten along with all of our fully remote classes will remain unchanged.
Please view the details regarding HyFlex/Concurrent Teaching by clicking here.
Over the coming week attendance letters will go home to students who have missed more that 10% of the school year at this point (5 days). Each year I get several questions about this practice. These letters go home so that we are all on the same page regarding your child's attendance. We have seen an increase of students who are absent during their remote learning days. Please make sure to be in contact with your child's teacher in regards to their status on those days. We are required to mark attendance on both in person and remote learning days. Students who are quarantining due to travel or an exposure to Covid-19 are able to be marked remote learning, but they must participate in order for attendance to be marked in that way. Please continue to monitor your child's attendance so that absences do not become excessive. As always, our students are most successful when we all work together!
The staff of the Bayville School wishes all of our families a happy and healthy holiday season.
