COVID Protocols and Quarantines
Thank you for your flexibility and understanding with our required COVID protocols. We understand that coordinating your schedules around our mandatory quarantines can be challenging. We want your child in school too!
Just like last year, we are required to quarantine any student who is determined as a close contact with someone who tested positive for COVID. Our district is in constant communication with the health department of updated requirements. Currently, on the 6th day after exposure, if the exposed student tests negative for COVID, then he/she may return to school two days later. These protocols follow guidance from the health department and the state of Colorado.
If your child is quarantined, you will receive a call from the school. Students' work will be provided to them through Google Classroom, which students access through their school district email account. In some instances, students may have their hardcopy work with them and be assigned to work on that classwork. Teachers will have one full day to prepare the distance learning coursework. Students can read their books and work on IXL during the waiting period of time for their classwork to begin.
Please be mindful that your child's attendance is important. Please do your best to schedule appointments, etc. during school breaks and days off. Part of the success of our school is due to the fact that we fill each minute, so all times of the day are important at PK8. We need your child here from 8:00am until 3:30pm.
In the calendar dates later in this newsletter, you will see the upcoming NO SCHOOL days for students.
Thank you for partnering with us to support and care for one another!
