Earthquake PBL
My design that I created was a one story house with a roof that was held up by 4 popsicle sticks and string to tie it all together. The roof would be made up of 3 popsicle sticks as a base but for support it would be 2 toothpicks criss crossed that was connected by 2 pieces of string. My second design for the house would be a 2 floor home with 2 levels with a straight roof across. On the bottom floor 2 straws and 2 popsicle sticks to keep it all up but then a piece of string connecst it all together to make sure it wouldn't fall over. The second floor was made up of a popsicle stick as the bottom base or flooring for the floor, 2 toothpicks to keep up the the side of the walls, and then a popsicle stick as the roof of the house.
I learned that a stronger base would help with the structural process so that the house wouldn't fall down during the process of buildign or the Shake Test. Also, thincker walls to keep up the house is easier to make the walls stay up easier and not crash. Fianlly, when building not to push the the toothpicks and straws so hard that the building woudl collapse into pieces.
