McKenzie Elementary Students Host Lemonade/Cookie Sale to Support Hurricane Victims
District 39 is helping hurricane victims by focusing on one Texas school district that was hit very hard - Pasadena Independent School District in Pasedena, TX. In an effort to support their mission, third- graders, Natalie Burnell, Kate Swain, Charlotte Yager-Madden, Alina Hirschle and Abby Wang are hosting a lemonade & cookie sale to raise funds.

Every year McKenzie students benefit from field trips, speakers and performances that enhance the curriculum taught in school and build skill sets integral to future success. Your donations to the McKenzie PTA iGNITE fund are the primary sources of revenue for these opportunities. The suggested donation amount is $125 per student, but ANY contribution is welcome and appreciated. All donations are tax deductible. Thank you!
McKenzie Parent Party UPDATE:
Sign Up Parties are live now! Register here for the McKenzie Parent Party, , then sign up for parties before they sell out! The party is on Saturday, October 7th at 7pm at A. Perry Homes! The proceeds from this year's Parent Party will fund McKenzie’s many PTA programs. Tickets are $80 per person. NEW THIS YEAR: McKenzie parents can opt to "Round Up for the McKenzie PTA" ticket for $100 per person.
Environmental Awareness Week:
Come one, come all! Join us in celebrating Environmental Awareness Week by participating in National Walk/Bike to School Day on Wednesday, October 4th. A Cheetah tradition, the walking school bus will be out and on the move! Please join one of the four routes to McKenzie to show your support and excitement for reducing our carbon footprint. Each route will end on the black top where volunteers will be greeting all the kids and stamping their hands.

Fall Frenzy:
Friday, October 13, 5:30 – 8pm. It’s time to pre-order your pizza and tickets! By pre-ordering, you save money on pizza and time standing in the ticket lines. Also, your family or business can sponsor a game this year. Click here to pre-order pizza & tickets or to sponsor a game!
HELP WANTED
Fall Frenzy:
Did you know that Fall Frenzy volunteer slots are only an hour long? It’s easy! We have many, many spots to fill. Even older siblings (5th grade and up) can help run games and crafts. Please sign up today!
Webmaster:
Want to learn technology skills and be an integral part of the McKenzie PTA and your children’s school? The PTA is looking for a webmaster and a webmaster assistant. The team would work together with the PTA exec and chairs to keep the content on the PTA website fresh and relevant. If you are interested, please contact president@mckenziepta.com.
The Yearbook Committee:
Classroom photographers are needed for Lauer, Torf, and Bialk. Please sign up here. Responsibilities include visiting the class twice and uploading photos. We also need special event and recess photographers!! Sign up here.
The Sharing Committee:
Are you interested in helping our sister school, Carman-Buckner Elementary in Waukegan, where over 75% of the student body comes from low income households? Every year, the McKenzie Sharing Committee conducts a number of drives to benefit the children and staff at Carman-Buckner. Lemonade & Cookies to Help Hurricane Victims:
District 39 is helping hurricane victims by focusing on one Texas school district that was hit very hard - Pasadena Independent School District in Pasedena, TX. In an effort to support their mission, third- graders, Natalie Burnell, Kate Swain, Charlotte Yager-Madden, Alina Hirschle and Abby Wang are hosting a lemonade & cookie sale to raise funds. Details are as follows: Friday, Sept. 29th, from 2:30pm-4:15pm at Vattmann Playground. Cookies cost $1/each and cups of lemonade are $1/each. Anyone interested in contributing via check can do so by making checks payable to: Pasadena ISD Education Foundation. If you cannot make the sale, you can donate directly online. Please put "District 39" in the special instructions, so D39 can track collections. For any questions, please contact Alexa Burnell at alexa.burnell@gmail.com
Tour Wilmette Bike Ride:
The WIlmette Park District and Bike Wilmette will sponsor the first annual "Tour Wilmette" bike ride on Sunday, October 1st at 2pm starting at Mallinkrodt. The 10.28 mile ride connects several park locations throughout the village. It is designed for family participation and there is no requirement that riders complete the whole course. The goal is to showcase the parks and the bike routes connecting them and to raise awareness of bikers and bike safety. Click here for details.
