Preparing for Spring!

Dear Atholton families,

As we celebrate our winter sports senior athletes, we begin to look forward to warmer weather and the start of our spring sports season. Believe it or not, spring sports tryouts are less than 3 weeks away. Please make sure you get your forms in prior to February 25th.

Please be sure to mark your calendars for all spring sports tryouts. Participants are expected to be at ALL tryouts beginning March 1st. Practices will begin immediately after teams are selected. Participants must have all forms filled out prior to February 25th. Participants will not be allowed to try out if the paperwork is missing or incomplete. Having submitted your paperwork does not constitute a student being cleared to try out. All paperwork must be cleared by the AAM, Mr. Senisi. Please verify with coaches that all paperwork has been accepted and cleared.

SPRINT SPORTS TRYOUTS SCHEDULE: Spring tryouts will begin on Wednesday, March 1st. Click here for tryout schedule

To submit your athletic forms, HCPSS has developed a portal through HCPSS Connect to submit all of your tryout forms. Parents/guardians must use their parent portal to submit paperwork. Click here for step-by-step directions on how to submit forms online. Please contact Mr. Senisi at Michael_Senisi@hcpss.org if you have any questions.

I want to highlight the outstanding accomplishment of sophomore Minoli De Silva, who was selected to Team USA to represent the United States at the Britannia Cup Synchronized Skating Competition in Nottingham, England. Not only was it an amazing accomplishment to be selected for the team, but Minoli and her team brought home GOLD! Congratulations to Minoli and her team, and we look forward to hearing more great news! You may read more about this outstanding accomplishment here.

HCPSS is looking for students to participate in the Apprenticeship Maryland Academy. What a great way to start a career. Current 11th-grade students and their parents/guardians are invited to attend an in-person information session on the HCPSS Apprenticeship Maryland Academy Tuesday, March 7th, at 6:00 pm. The event will be held at the HCPSS Applications and Research Laboratory, 10920 Clarksville Pike, Ellicott City.

Participants will learn how the Career and Technical Education (CTE) Apprenticeship Maryland Academy provides high school students opportunities to enter the workforce while still in high school, gain marketable industry skills, and receive hands-on career training through a paid, on-the-job training program.

Positions available include:

Lastly, the "official video" of my trip to Guatemala has been released--Enjoy!

Have a fantastic week!

Warmest regards,
