"We The People"
From BGMS Teacher, Lacee Hunter . . .
We had two specialized "Units" that were regional champs! Unit 4: Sadie Bennett, Charlie Causey, Mackayla Wood, and Alleyah Hickman. Unit 6: Madison Stratton, Brynn Kingery, Jackson Storey, Alexa Allen, and Lily Turner.
This We the People group worked really hard for this competition, and I think you would be impressed with their grace, and application of the constitution to real life scenarios. I am very proud of them. Again, thank you to everyone for helping me to make this opportunity happen!"
Robotics Team Competes in VEX VRC Tournament
From Mr. Folger . . .
"The BGHS Robotics Club competed for the first time this year on Saturday, November 12. Our Team traveled downtown to Kids, Inc. to participate in the VEX VRC tournament. They did well and advanced to the quarterfinals, ending up placing 15th out of 36 teams. The competition season just started so all teams were busy working out the kinks on their robots. The season runs through late February, so we'll be going to several more competitions and, hopefully, bringing additional teams.
A very special thank you to Mr. Kevin Banks for accompanying and supervising the team....and for establishing the club several years ago!"
Photos of the team are pictured below: Ted Hardesty, Bishop Smith, Michael Hotseller and Patrick Lamb.
Happy Thanksgiving from South Grove Intermediate School!
These creative turkeys were made in Mr. Yeoman and Mrs. M. Johnson's Chromebook Connections class.

Riley Dance Marathon at BGHS
The tradition continues . . .
In previous years, BGHS students organized Riley Dance Marathons to benefit Riley Hospital for Children. The last dance marathon at BGHS was held a few years ago. This year, the student leadership team revived this fundraiser and built on the success of previous BGHS dance marathons. Activities this year included "Teacher Torture." Students paid $1 for each piece of duct tape to tape two of their teachers to the wall! Ms. Strezlecki and Mr. Busch were good sports for this activity! Ms. Fangman, Mr. Starks, and Mr. Daniel teamed up for a lip sync contest, and Coach Cross agreed to allow his head to be shaved if the fundraising goal was met! Which it was; the goal was $5,000, the final amount raised was $9,103.06!
From parent, and BGCS nurse coordinator, Mrs. Brandee Beikman:
"It was such an amazing night! Our kids are so great. A couple of our students that are Riley patients got up and spoke about their experiences. There were tears shed and so much support shown from the other students. I am proud to be a Hornet!"
